Abstract

Innovation can be characterized in different forms and can influence the departments of anorganization in several ways. Nevertheless the process of innovation has a common relatingprinciple: it is not self supported, that is, its process does not have a natural tendency for itsown development, in fact it must be discovered, stimulated and managed all the way to beeffective. To be innovative, every post of work in the company should have a differentresponsibility and a job to be done in the innovation process, and it is necessary to have theknowledge to deal with problems in the several levels of the organization. This paper aims topresent some characteristics of innovation, show the attitude needed to every sector of theRevista Científica Hermes 5: 23-37, 2011company and suggest approaches to the organizational learning development, in order to helpthe companies generate, develop and maintain a strategy of a permanent innovational processso that they can establish a sustained competitive advantage. It is possible to conclude thatinnovation is not a spontaneous process; it is in fact, supported by knowledge where all thecompany sectors and levels must be involved.
