The improvement of production processes is usually applied in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. However, it has been observed that service sectors can also benefit from the implementation of the same practices. This article presents the process mapping of the user service sector of a Health Region in the state of Paraná, along with an analysis of the processes and proposals for improvement. Action research was adopted as the methodological approach, as this method allows the researcher to engage with the environment and supports participatory involvement of workers in identifying problems and solutions. The results include the detailing and standardization of the observed processes, the time analysis of each stage, the analysis of the layout and process flow, and the identification of the main problems encountered in the user service sector. It is considered that this study may assist public managers in standardizing and improving processes.
