Abstract

In an environment of increasing competitiveness, quality management and process efficiency are strategic elements for the operational sustainability of companies. However, gaps in the standardization and maintenance of critical processes, such as label printing, persist, resulting in high scrap rates. Accordingly, this study aims to identify and analyze the factors contributing to waste in this sector, as well as to propose integrated improvement actions. To that end, a mixed-method approach was adopted, combining on-site observation, interviews with supervisors and operators, and analysis of historical production data. Tools such as the Ishikawa diagram and brainstorming sessions complemented the investigation, enabling the mapping of process stages and the identification of the main operational failures. The results indicated an average scrap rate of approximately 8%, attributable to issues in printer setup, inadequacies in operational procedures, and the absence of preventive maintenance. It is concluded that the implementation of standardized procedures, operator training, and the establishment of a maintenance schedule are essential measures to reduce waste, enhance product quality, and improve the company’s competitiveness.
