This article aimed to investigate the predictive role of organizational climate in organizational stress, a construct that involves potentially stressful organizational characteristics. For that, a quantitative survey was conducted, with the participation of 432 professionals of public institutions, private and mixed economy companies in the Federal District. Data were collected through the application of the Organizational Climate Scale (ECO) and the Organizational Stress Scale (EEO), as well as a sociodemographic questionnaire to characterize the sample. The data collected were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicated that the organizational climate most characteristic of the relationship between bosses and subordinates was warm, suggesting appreciation of employees and recognition of results. The hot climate was the most characteristic of the relationship between co-workers, indicative of cooperative and friendly relations. A low level of organizational stress was identified. Correlation analyzes indicated that all dimensions of organizational climate were significantly associated with organizational stress, ranging from moderate to high magnitudes. Four dimensions of organizational climate were significant predictors of the criterion variable: frosty, cold, moist and warm, explaining 34% of the variance. Implications, limitations of the study and future research perspectives are presented in the article.
