Abstract

The intense flow of people in cities is considered an activity that directly relates to sustainability issues. Given the relevance of this theme, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between the flow of individuals and sustainability in global cities. Therefore, statistical tests were performed as bivariate correlation and multiple regression, as well as a brief description of the highlighted cities. As a result, it is clear that there is a strong correlation between various dimensions of the flow of people and sustainable urban development of cities. It is understood that depending on the degree of maturity of cities, the large flow of people can cause positive pressures on the full development of the environmental, social and economic dimensions. The most outstanding cities, both in terms of people flow and sustainability, are Paris, Amsterdam, New York, London and San Francisco. The least prominent in visitations and also in sustainability are Lima, Cairo, Mumbai, Manila, Chengdu, Jakarta, Delhi and Rio de Janeiro.
